ZUHAUSE No. 3 / HOME No. 3 (Vonovia Award for Photography), Vienna 2020

Since 2017, the Vonovia Award for Photography has been asking professional photographers and aspiring talent “what HOME looks like“, awarding € 42,000 in prize money each year and presenting not only the winners but also the works of the shortlisted nominees in an exhibition that regularly occupies the foyer of the new BUWOG headquarters in Vienna. The competition calls for series of six to 12 individual motifs that trace locations, emotions and personal associations relating to HOME. Out of 340 submissions, the jury of experts selected Mona Schulzek for Ottomane / Ottomans (1st), Bastian Thiery for Hampelfuchs / Limping Fox (2nd) and Theodor Barth for Auf der Kohle / Coaltown (3rd) as well as Marlene Hoberger's Leere Tage / Empty Days as “Best Newcomer Series” for the “Best Photo Series”.

Marlene Hoberger: “Of course, for me as a native of Vienna, the Vonovia Award for Photography exhibition at the BUWOG gallery in Vienna is particularly special. It’s always impressive to see the photographs in other locations and with other people.”
