As part of the development of the Bayerischer Bahnhof Leipzig urban area, BUWOG is building a total of around 1,600 apartments in two sub-areas in line with the city of Leipzig's objectives for the creation of new living space. After completion, around 30 percent of the rental apartments will be subject to the criteria of subsidized housing construction and will enable low-income people to pay a price-linked rent of 6.50 euros. Following the successful start of the new construction on Dösner Weg in 2023, BUWOG expects to begin construction work on the new Lössniger Straße district in Leipzig from 2025. It is adjacent to the new district park, which will be built along the railroad line as an open space that is valuable in terms of the urban climate and can be used in a variety of ways and will connect the project developers' sub-areas.
