BUWOG Bauträger GmbH realizes new residential construction nationwide and currently has a development pipeline of around 55,000 residential units under construction and in planning in Germany. A total of around 300 dedicated employees at eight locations throughout Germany ensure optimal service. BUWOG pursues a committed sustainability agenda. According to a bulwiengesa study, BUWOG is the largest private project developer in Berlin.

Over 70 years of experience

BUWOG Bauträger GmbH and BUWOG Immobilien Treuhand GmbH in Germany and BUWOG Group GmbH in Austria have over 70 years of experience in the residential real estate market. They are all subsidiaries of Vonovia SE, Europe's leading residential real estate company based in Bochum (Germany). Together, BUWOG's three main companies cover the entire value chain of the residential sector.

BUWOG Bauträger GmbH develops residential construction projects throughout Germany, from the purchase of land and the acquisition of building rights to the handover of the finished new-build apartments. BUWOG Bauträger GmbH currently has a development pipeline of 55,000 apartments under construction and in planning.

BUWOG Immobilien Treuhand GmbH manages around 17,000 apartments and 250,000 m² of commercial space in the area of third-party management. Customers are large portfolio holders, corporates, institutional investors, family offices and individual customers with a focus on operational asset management, commercial and technical services, letting and infrastructural services. BUWOG Immobilien Treuhand GmbH has around 100 employees in Berlin, Frankfurt, Kiel, Lübeck, Hamburg and Hanover.

BUWOG Group GmbH in Austria has around 21,300 portfolio units and around 5,100 residential units in the development pipeline, which is focused on the capital city of Vienna.

Eva Weiß Managing Director of BUWOG

As Managing Director of BUWOG Bauträger GmbH, Eva Weiß is in charge of the new construction business in the North-East region.

Eva Weiß is a trained banker and real estate specialist and has been working in the real estate industry for over 30 years now. After holding various positions as a project manager, department head and authorized signatory at different residential construction companies, she joined BUWOG in 2015, where she helped shape the strategic expansion of the company as Head of Development. In 2020 she was appointed Managing Director of BUWOG Bauträger GmbH.

Andreas Holler Managing Director of BUWOG

As Managing Director of BUWOG Group GmbH in Austria, Andreas Holler has been responsible for project development, construction management, sales and acquisitions since the end of 2013. In 2024, he was also appointed Managing Director of BUWOG Bauträger GmbH in Germany. There he is responsible for the development business in the South-West region and the Rhine-Main region.

Andreas Holler holds a degree in Business Administration from Boston University School of Management and completed INSEAD's Young Manager's Program in Fontainebleau. Following his great interest in the real estate industry, he already worked in project development in Eastern Europe in the early 2000s. From 2008, he worked for IMMOEAST and IMMOFINANZ in various management positions in the investment, residential real estate and development sectors, among others.

Daniel Riedl Managing Director

As Chief Development Officer of Vonovia SE, Daniel Riedl is responsible for the development of BUWOG in Austria and Germany as well as for the operating business in Austria.

Daniel Riedl holds a degree in commerce from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He has around 20 years of experience in the real estate industry, including more than 10 years at Management Board level. From 2008 to 2014, he was a member of the Executive Board of Immofinanz AG. In 2014, he led BUWOG AG to the stock exchange and was its CEO until its delisting in 2018.

Arndt Fittkau Managing Director

As Chief Rental Officer (CRO), Arnd Fittkau is responsible for the management business at Vonovia with the North, East, South and West business areas as well as the areas of customer service and portfolio and rental management. Since 2008, Arnd Fittkau has held several managing directorships in subsidiaries in various locations such as Bochum, Munich, Frankfurt and Gelsenkirchen. Most recently, he held the role of general representative of Vonovia SE since the beginning of March 2018 and acted as chairman of the regional management. In 2023 he was appointed to the management of BUWOG.

BUWOG's History

1951
Foundation

BUWOG is established in Austria by the post-war government for the purpose of providing housing for federal employees.

1957
The first major growth step

BUWOG merges with BEWOG, which is also a non-profit company.

1970
Significant milestones

BUWOG acquires Österreichische Gemeinnützige Siedlungsgesellschaft (ÖGSG) and hands over the 10,000th apartment to its residents.

2001
New era

BUWOG ceases to be a public utility by law.

2004
Privatization

BUWOG is bought by Immofinanz AG and becomes the best-known residential real estate company in Austria.

2006
Acquisition of ESG

BUWOG takes over shares of the originally state-owned ESG in Carinthia. This is the birth of the modern BUWOG.

2010
Expansion to Germany

BUWOG ventures into the neighboring country and takes over a portfolio of 2,300 apartments in Berlin.

2012
Start of property development activities

BUWOG acquires a project development company in Berlin, thereby consolidating and expanding its position in Germany.

2013
Strategic decisions

BUWOG is beginning to actively implement its portfolio strategy through portfolio sales in Carinthia and Upper Austria as well as the expansion of the portfolio in Germany.

2014
Further growth and initial public offering

Spin-off and listing of BUWOG on the stock exchanges in Frankfurt, Vienna and Warsaw - followed by admission to the ATX; purchase of the DGAG portfolio and integration of Prelios Deutschland.

2016
Development in the north of Germany

BUWOG, currently Austria's largest listed real estate company, is expanding its new construction activities with a first project in Hamburg.

2018
Acquisition by Vonovia SE

Following acceptance of a takeover bid, BUWOG will be integrated into the DAX-listed Vonovia SE Group, Europe's leading housing company with a nationwide presence in Germany.

2019
Strategic realignment

BUWOG is now divided into three companies: BUWOG Group GmbH in Austria and BUWOG Bauträger GmbH and BUWOG Immobilien Treuhand GmbH in Germany.

70 years BUWOG

Since its founding, BUWOG has stood for stability and security for customers and employees.

2020
Strong becomes stronger

Following the takeover of the Hessian project developer, Bien-Ries is integrated into BUWOG - accompanied by the advertising campaign: Strong becomes stronger.

BUWOG 2.0

BUWOG's expansion has resulted in the logical division into BUWOG regional areas: South-West, North-East and Rhein-Main-Area.
