Since 2018, one of the most exciting neighborhood developments in the Ruhr region has been underway. In Weitmar, in the south of Bochum, a housing estate from the 1950s is undergoing further residential development with new, contemporary living space in a mix that meets local needs. In addition to the addition of storeys to existing buildings, BUWOG has added nine new buildings with a total of 122 apartments, a dementia flat share and two office units to the quarter by spring 2024. The next step will see the completion of a centerpiece of the neighbourhood development: The quarter house with 34 apartments, a doctor's surgery and a bakery. As a further building block of the quarter, BUWOG will create the planning rights for five further buildings with a total of 68 apartments and some publicly subsidized living space as part of a development plan procedure.
