BUWOG HYGGE HÖFE
Germany's largest timber construction project from a single source: BUWOG is building a sustainable neighborhood with 18 terraced and semi-detached houses and 7 apartment buildings, a total of 166 rental apartments and a large playground on the approximately 14,000 m² site on Münsterberger Weg. The timber construction method used here will save a large amount of CO2: a total of around 64 percent compared with conventional concrete construction. That is around 5,200 metric tons of CO2 - roughly the amount that a passenger car would emit in 800 circumnavigations of the earth.

The residential buildings meet the KfW Effizienzhaus 55 EE standard. Heat is generated in the neighborhood primarily with renewable energies through heat pumps and photovoltaic systems. A modern gas condensing boiler is only used selectively to cover peak loads.

The new construction project will also unseal soil: A plot of land that was previously 100 percent sealed will be largely unsealed and landscaped in the course of the neighborhood development. This allows the precipitation water to seep away completely on the property or to return to the natural water cycle through evaporation, and in the future it will no longer be necessary to discharge rainwater into the public sewage system.
