The works for BUWOG HELLING HOF are proceeding nicely in Berlin-Grünau in the district of Treptow-Köpenick. The topping out for the four residential buildings has just been celebrated.
A thank you from the owner to the builders and tradespeople on the construction site, the topping out is traditionally celebrated when the rooftop is completed. In the 52° Nord development this milestone has now been reached for the new BUWOG HELLING HOF residential complex. The three new apartment buildings and existing historic building comprise 109 condominiums of two to six rooms.
A highlight in the development will be the existing historic building, which will be preserved and is undergoing extensive refurbished by BUWOG. The brick building with a four-storey turret dating from 1900 was once built as a brewery and later used for boat storage. Known as the Werfthaus, the structure will stand out as a piece of historic industrial architecture by the end of 2023 and will then be home to four lofts.
On behalf of the architectural firm Aukett + Heese from Berlin, architect Andrew Henning Jones extended his thanks to the builders for the satisfactory progress of construction in his welcoming address. BUWOG project manager Juliane Holtmeyer: “BUWOG HELLING HOF will be a place to live and enjoy, embedded in an open and sustainable neighbourhood for every generation.”
The 52° Nord development encompasses a space of ten hectares with around 1,000 new apartments and is located between Regattastraße and the banks of the river Dahme. Thomas Mahler, director of the department of new development at the developer BUWOG, underlined the environmental function: “The environmental centrepiece is a 6,000 square-metre planted water basin that collects rainwater and returns it to the natural water cycle, based on the sponge city model.” The project has also won the 2022 German Award for Sustainability Projects.
In BUWOG HELLING HOF the apartments are already sold. There are condominiums still available in the BUWOG DAHMEBOGEN component where the Teltow Canal leads into the river Dahme. Information can be found at www.52grad-nord.de.
