In Berlin-Niederschöneweide on the banks of the Spree works are commencing for three construction sites featuring 175 new apartments and a new daycare centre.
The BUWOG WOHNWERK development is being constructed on a 60,000-square-metre site on the banks of the Spree in the Treptow-Köpenick district. Works are now underway on three construction sites for 175 new apartments and a daycare centre featuring 108 places.
The new units are distributed across five apartment buildings with five floors and a setback storey, all designed as rental apartments. The apartments range in size from one to four rooms, thus catering to a wide range of user groups. All of the apartments have a balcony or terrace. As part of the new construction project, a private underground car park with 80 and 84 parking spaces will be built under two sites, respectively. Extensive greening on all of the rooftops and the installation of photovoltaic systems in accordance with the Berlin Solar Energy Act round out the concept. At the same time, new playgrounds for the development’s youngest will be created in the outdoor areas.

HABAU Deutschland GmbH (only in German) is acting as general contractor for the three construction sites. Construction is expected to be completed in 2027. Upon completion, the new buildings will be transferred to the portfolio of HIH Invest Real Estate. Parts of the BUWOG WOHNWERK development along Fließstraße are already completed. Among other things, the first construction phase in 2021 at Spreestraße 8 saw the creation of Haus Strohhalm, which offers housing for the homeless, an open gathering area featuring food distribution and laundry facilities, a clothing store, and various psychosocial services provided by the Foundation for the Social Pedagogical Institute Berlin (Stiftung SPI).
