BUWOG wins two ICONIC AWARDS in 2024: the BUWOG WEYDENHOF project wins in the architecture category, and the BUWOG podcast wins in the communication category.
BUWOG was delighted about two distinctions at the presentation of this year’s ICONIC AWARDS. In the architecture category, the award went to the BUWOG WEYDENHOF project, which is currently being built in the Niederschöneweide district of Berlin. It consists of 135 condominiums in five apartment buildings. The renowned architectural firm &MICA has combined four elegant city villas directly on the river Spree with an accompanying apartment building. The individual structures with their distinctive timber panelling are arranged similar to mills and feature a slight rotation of the individual floors. This has both design-related and practical benefits, as most of the apartments have a view of the water. Between the buildings are park-like courtyard areas with an environmental and social function as areas for socialising between neighbourhoods.
This year’s winner in the communication category is the BUWOG podcast, which has been supplementing the company’s corporate media channels since 2022. Every two weeks, the BUWOG podcast “GLÜCKLICH WOHNEN” offers new topics on urban development, architecture as well as sustainable planning and building. In the 48 episodes in eight seasons to date, renowned experts from research, business and politics have their say, including Reiner Nagel (Federal Foundation of Baukultur), architect Eike Becker, timber construction expert Sun Jensch (COALITION for TIMBER CONSTRUCTION) and architect Prof. Almut Grüntuch-Ernst.
