The German Innovation Institute for Sustainability and Digitalisation and DUP UNTERNEHMER-Magazin (only in German) have named BUWOG, a property developer active throughout Germany, employer of the future.
The award was presented by former Federal Minister of Economics Brigitte Zypries at a high-profile event at STILWERK Hamburg on 24 November 2022. The Employer of the Future Award recognises companies that are forward-looking in terms of their business direction and employer qualities such as fairness, social orientation and sustainability.
Around 100 guests attended the award ceremony and the preceding panel discussion with Brigitte Zypries and Dr. Michael Müller-Wünsch, member of the executive board of OTTO GmbH & Co. KG and CIO of 2022. On the topic “The shortage of skilled labour as a brake on transformation?”, relevant factors for success and innovative solutions for employer positioning were discussed and in-house training and in-service support for talented employees highlighted. The shortage of skilled workers is also severe in the real estate industry: according to the “Human Resources Monitor Immobilienwirtschaft 2022” property survey, commissioned by the European Training Centre for the Housing and Real Estate Industry, the shortage of skilled workers is a critical obstacle to investment for 55 percent of the real estate companies surveyed. The evaluation for the Employer of the Future Award was carried out by a panel of experts based on defined focus areas that provide an in-depth 360-degree view of the company.
