Town house on the main square of Wels
First documented in 1508, the town house was owned by Wels merchants for centuries. The asymmetrically designed building with its striking four-storey round bay (around 1600) covers the junction of Hafergasse and the town square, where livestock and foodstuffs were traded and which, with its 64 historic town houses, is itself a unified architectural entity. The façade of the building was redesigned in the 19th century; BUWOG adapted the Renaissance building with its imposing arcades for modern commercial and residential use.
