Friedrich Biedermann: Intensifications Matrix / Intensification Matrix

Friedrich Biedermann is a sculptor, and light is the immaterial material of his “perceptual images”. With Intensifications Matrix, he marks highly frequented locations in Heller Park: “Light tapes” that glow in the dark snake across façades and entrances, leading from the exterior to the interior. With “rounded, wavy, curving” arches, the media artist references the “beautiful line” of the Renaissance, the line as the initial element of every design, handwriting, or the sound waves of human communication. The work provides clues for identification and location and also engages in dialogue with the residents through texts. “My aim was to render the building’s dynamics visible, creating visual islands that function both day and night.”
