  • viéno to bring over 500 privately financed rental apartments south of Vienna
  • Project offers a perfect mix of urban and rural living
  • Planned completion by spring 2027

After two years of restraint, BUWOG launched an investment offensive at the end of last year and resumed its new construction activities with the viéno project in Vösendorf. South of Vienna, in the area between Willi-Hafenscher-Gasse and Ortsstraße, a sustainable residential development featuring 513 privately financed rental apartments is being constructed on the former Alvorada site. Gustin & Zieser Architekten are responsible for the architecture. The topping-out ceremony for viéno took place on 11 September. With its location in the Vienna catchment area and a volume of more than 500 privately financed rental apartments, viéno meets the basic requirements for a new construction project in terms of economic efficiency and also helps respond to the considerable demand for rental apartments in the Vienna/greater Vienna conurbation, according to Andreas Holler, BUWOG’s managing director responsible for development. “It is an enormous pleasure that this topping out brings us one step closer to the completion of the project in spring 2027, and I would like to extend my thanks to all of the partners involved, who are making a valuable contribution with their commitment and expertise.”

As a property developer, BUWOG is aware of its responsibility to meet the demand for urgently needed housing. “With our investment offensive, we launched several new projects in the first half of the year alone, comprising a total of around 1,000 rental apartments and condominiums. viéno is now the first of our new projects to celebrate a topping-out, symbolising that we are no longer on  hold and are once again focusing all of our efforts on growth,” Holler continued.

South of Vienna, viéno, a sustainable residential quarter with around 513 privately financed rental apartments, is being built on the former Alvorada site in Vösendorf.

A home between Wienerberg and the vineyards

Between Wienerberg and the vineyards, future residents of viéno will enjoy the advantages of the city and countryside. Necessities for daily living can be found near Vienna’s city limits and close to one of the largest shopping centres in Europe. The excellent connections to the transportation network and the centre of Vienna, as well as proximity to recreational areas, also make this location stand out. Viéno thus offers the ideal residential space for anyone who appreciates a blend of urban and rural life. The individual apartments have been designed for a wide variety of living situations: the generously proportioned rooms offer singles, couples and families enough space to arrange them based on their individual needs. Thanks to an innovative energy supply system using geothermal probes and photovoltaics, viéno meets the latest requirements for energy efficiency, sustainability and EU taxonomy. A biotope is planned as the green heart of the residential quarter, surrounded by vibrant flora that invites you to unwind in every season. Once the project is complete, a wide variety of seating options will provide space for lively socialising with a high quality of life and modern living standards for young and old alike. The buildings will be connected underground by a shared car park with approximately 670 parking spaces. The project has already won its first award: at the European Property Awards 2024, which took place in London at the end of last year, viéno was found compelling in the category “Best Residential Development 20+ Units Austria”. Completion of the entire project is planned for spring 2027.
