  • Green and liveable: low-traffic location, excellent connections and surrounded by nature
  • 5-star award in the categories “Residential Development 20+ Units” and “Architecture Multiple Residence”
  • Planned completion: autumn 2026

There are two reasons to celebrate for BUWOG’s “drygalski” project in Vienna’s 21st district:
Recently, the topping-out for the 94-unit condominium project on Drygalskiweg took place. In the presence of Deputy District Manager Josef Fischer, the team led by architect Lina Streeruwitz from Studio VlayStreeruwitz and numerous other project partners, Andreas Holler, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH, expressed his gratitude to the approximately 120 guests. “We are proud to be part of the ‘An der Schanze’ development area because the neighbourhood being created here combines sustainable housing with urban living. Our project partners have done a marvellous job and, with a great deal of expertise, ensured that the building’s shell was able to be completed on schedule,” Holler said.

Moreover, yesterday, 23 October 2025, drygalski was presented with the 5-Star Award in the categories “Residential Development 20+ Units Austria” and “Architecture Multiple Residence Austria” at an exclusive gala evening in London. BUWOG also qualified for the International Property Awards in the category “Architecture Multiple Residence Europe”.
The submission was judged by an international jury of experts consisting of real estate professionals, architects and journalists. The projects were evaluated in terms of amenities, location, architecture, sustainability and innovation, and the accompanying marketing.
“We are delighted that another one of our projects is in the lead in international competition even prior to its completion. The award demonstrates once again that our projects not only meet the highest quality standards, but are also absolutely state of the art,” Holler said.

Nestled in the new urban development area “An der Schanze” in the 21st district, the BUWOG project “drygalski” is being built with around 100 apartments.

Living in harmony with nature

In the midst of a natural environment yet the focus of urban life: the “drygalski” project, a four-floor residential complex planned by Studio VlayStreeruwitz with public green and communal areas directly at the doorstep, is being constructed on the Obere Alte Donau (Upper Old Danube) in one of Vienna’s most fascinating new development areas. The 94 condominiums offer floor area of between 45 m² and 150 m². Each unit has a private open area – be it a private garden, balcony, loggia or terrace. Future residents can also look forward to a spacious communal room and a communal terrace. Additional extras, such as a laundry room and a washing station for bicycles and dogs, are also available. The energy supply via district heating is supplemented by a central in-house refrigeration system for the cooling supply and a rooftop photovoltaic system. “drygalski” is located directly in the “An der Schanze” development area, where a promising, vibrant, diverse urban development with energy-efficient buildings, city-like character, spacious open areas and much more will be created in the coming years. There are numerous shopping, service, sports and leisure facilities in the immediate vicinity. A variety of educational facilities, such as the Donaufeld campus and a kindergarten, are in close proximity, and the city centre can also be reached in just 20 minutes. Unit prices for the “drygalski” project start at EUR 240,000. Completion is planned for autumn 2026.
