  • Extensive exhibition with award-winning photographs
  • Creative approaches to the multifaceted subject of HOME
  • Long-standing tradition in the promotion of contemporary art by BUWOG

The entrance of the BUWOG Customer and Administrative Centre is devoted once again to art: for approximately a year, BUWOG will present a selection of the works by the winners of the VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY from the exhibition HOME No. 5. From over 300 submissions from Austria and abroad, the jury named four winners from a group of 33 finalists. Aspects of intimacy, security, hope, togetherness and beauty are juxtaposed with depictions of loss, destruction, strangeness and threat, spanning the complex theme of HOME from a variety of angles and international perspectives.

“With this exhibition, BUWOG continues a long series of activities in which we provide space for and support contemporary art,” says Daniel Riedl, who is responsible for all BUWOG operations in Austria as well as BUWOG Development in Germany. “We have facilitated artistic interventions at numerous BUWOG properties. Art and creativity also play a significant role in our Customer and Administrative Centre on Rathausstraße. We are pleased that the outstanding works of the VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY also have a platform in Austria.”

BUWOG guests can visit the exhibition in the in-house gallery, and the works are made accessible to the public in digital form via an LED wall facing Auerspergstraße. All of the images on the shortlist are also on display in Vonovia's digital gallery at  https://award.vonovia.de/de-de/wettbewerb-2021/shortlist

About the VONOVIA AWARD FOR PHOTOGRAPHY

Launched in 2017, the Vonovia Award for Photography is endowed with a total of EUR 42,000, making it one of the best endowed prizes for photography in the German-speaking world. It includes three main prizes each year in the “Best Photo Series” category and a young talent award for new photographers. An independent jury of experts from the areas of photography, journalism, art and culture, teaching and the real estate industry decides on the award. The variety of visual worlds of the participants, each with six to 12 photographic works, illustrate the breadth of the term HOME and its meanings.
