Great Place to Work Gala 2022

  • Great news for Austria’s most active private developer: with its first GPTW certification BUWOG wins seventh place in Category L
  • 92% of the employees in the company participated in the voluntary and anonymous survey and named BUWOG one of the country’s best employers
  • The extraordinary thing about the award is that it is a “direct confirmation by our employees,” says a delighted management

There’s cheering and delight at BUWOG: in this year’s “Great Place to Work” (GPTW) competition, the company was awarded seventh place as one of the winners in Category L (250 to 499 employees) on 19 May 2022, making it one of the best employers in Austria.

The globally recognised Great Place to Work certification recognises companies that offer their employees a particularly attractive workplace culture characterised by trust, pride and appreciation.

Our aim is to promote sustainable corporate development at every level. The employees are the most important foundation for this, which is why we are especially delighted about this award, as it is a direct confirmation by our employees,” says Kevin Töpfer, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH.

The awards for Austria’s best employers were presented for the 20th time this year. In addition to Managing Director Kevin Töpfer, BUWOG was represented at the event by Astrid Lassner, director of Human Resources Management, as well as other employees and managers, and was finally able to celebrate seventh place after an exciting and entertaining evening.

Every voice counts

As part of an employee survey conducted by the Great Place to Work research and consulting institute in autumn 2021, BUWOG employees had the opportunity to share their opinions on various aspects of their everyday working lives. The particularly high participation rate of 92% of all employees in connection with the award confirms that BUWOG is on the right track together with its employees, as Kevin Töpfer explains: “This clearly shows that the activities and qualities of BUWOG as an employer are appreciated by our employees.” Satisfied employees are the cornerstone of sustainable corporate success. “Thus it fills me with pride that our entire team has rated our consistent commitment to employee satisfaction so positively. The recognition and appreciation demonstrated to us this way shows us that we are living BUWOG’s employer slogan “moving forward together’ in the company,” Töpfer sums up. “Thank you to all of the colleagues who took part in the voluntary survey.”

Astrid Lassner, director of Human Resources Management, adds: “We are very pleased that our corporate culture has been recognised by the excellent GPTW ranking and take this as motivation to continue to support our employees’ interests and to continually update and expand our range of services. In the last few years, we’ve already implemented a share participation programme, an apprentice and trainee programme, childcare during the autumn holidays and exciting keynote lectures on a variety of topics such as the advancement of women and have therefore responded specifically to our employees’ wishes.”

Together into the future

The award as one of the country’s best employers and the ranking in the top ten of the GPTW in Category L are no reason to rest on our laurels now, though. “There are always opportunities to improve even more, and as a secure and reliable employer, BUWOG will take advantage of them. The last two years were a challenge for many in their day-to-day work. Managing to ensure that our employees still feel comfortable at work is truly a team effort,” says Astrid Lassner. “Of course, as a company that lives and breathes innovation at every level, we are also continually developing as an employer. Together as a team, we will continue to devote all of our energy to BUWOG and the needs of our employees in the future,” Kevin Töpfer concludes.
