Christmas is approaching, and the Advent season is an invitation to feel a sense of gratefulness for our own good fortune and to focus on those who are less fortunate. Following a number of crisis-ridden years and the resulting economic challenges, the hardship of many people is especially palpable.
In tough times, social action and solidarity are of even greater importance in our society. In 2024, as every year, BUWOG will also provide a donation to support an organisation whose mission is to help people in need. “As a leading full-service provider on the Austrian residential property market, social responsibility is an element of who we are. In view of the numerous crises that have posed significant challenges for us in the past few years, it is more important than ever to support those who need our assistance,” says Kevin Töpfer, managing director of BUWOG Group GmbH.
Food supplies for those who need it
“Give it away, don’t throw it away”: BUWOG is wholeheartedly on board with this mission again for Christmas 2024 and is providing a donation of EUR 20,000 to help both poverty-stricken people and the environment in equal measure. Together with over 250 volunteers, Tafel Österreich, a social and environmental organisation financed by donations, has been rescuing food still fit for consumption from rubbish bins since 1999. As a result, approximately 35,000 people affected by poverty are supplied with food in at least 100 social facilities free of charge. With its purposeful awareness-raising, Tafel Österreich also makes an important contribution to a reduction in food waste and greater sustainability.
“As the oldest and largest food bank in Austria, we at Tafel Österreich need a strong voice to guarantee our impact for the future – for those who are poverty-stricken, for the environment, and for an even better bridge from abundance to need. That is why we are extremely grateful for the continued donations from BUWOG, which help us further expand the necessary supply of aid to people affected by poverty throughout Austria,” says Alexandra Gruber, managing director of Tafel Österreich.
