Sustainability in all its dimensions – ecological, economic, and social – is a top priority across all our business areas. With this in mind, BUWOG is also actively involved in various associations and organizations in this field:
- respAct is Austria’s leading business platform for responsible business practices. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plays a particularly important role in this context: respAct discusses and provides information on companies’ responsibility for their impact on society, as well as on ways to contribute to the country’s sustainable development.
- BUWOG is a founding partner of the klimaaktiv Pakt launched by the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) and the only member from the domestic real estate sector. As a pioneer in corporate climate protection, we have made a voluntary but binding commitment to collectively reduce our greenhouse gas emissions by 57% by 2030 (compared to 2005). This goal thus goes far beyond the national climate protection target.
- Since 2021, BUWOG has been sourcing green electricity exclusively from renewable energy sources – 100% Austrian hydropower, wind, and solar power – at all of its locations in Austria.
Award-winning property development
BUWOG’s new construction projects meet the highest standards in many areas – including architecture, sustainability, and quality. We are therefore particularly proud to have received our tenth consecutive Brand Diamond in the “Residential Development” category at the 2025 Real Estate Brand Awards.
BUWOG plays a pioneering role in many areas – including project development – as evidenced by numerous awards and seals of approval at the national and international levels. Building certifications are also an important way to demonstrate to owners, tenants, and the interested public the extent to which a property has been planned, constructed, and operated sustainably.
